I have a 08 civic I went out of town this past weekend and I was noticing that my temperature gauge level dropped a few bars. It normally stays at 9 bars for normal temperature. But just kept going down or will go up to normal temperature. It never went above half by the way. There is coolant and the fans are working. Does this happen when you are going out of town to a cooler city or is my thermostat messed up? Also that never happens when I’m back in town it only happens when I drive out of town. What is the problem or is this normal
As long as temperature is in the normal range indicated on the gauge and not climbing higher than usual I wouldn't worry about it. However after 16 years if that still has the original thermostat, replacing it with a new OEM part would not be a bad idea.
