Scotty, I've seen you saying that changing transmission fluid is easy, just drain and fill as much as came out but all the tutorials I watch about Toyo cvt fluid change mechanics are messing with gearbox oil temperature before draining. Apparently you have to get the temp between 95-113 degrees F. Is it really necessary because I'd be able to do the change but this temp measuring is out of my expertise.
Thanks
this temp measuring is out of my expertise.
You don't need any expertise. Get a infrared thermometer gun for about $30. Then just point and read. Anybody can do it.
I've seen you saying that changing transmission fluid is easy,
It is. Search 'The Car Care Nut" channel on Youtube. The video walks you through it step by step.
Is it really necessary
Yes . Toyota didn't specify that for fun. Car fluids can expand with temperature quite a bit.
Well it's better to drain it warm. All you got to do is drive the stupid thing around 15 minutes and it'll be warm enough. You can watch my videos, I show how to change them. It's not that big of a deal as long as you don't have any leaks. Because you can't check the actual fluid level without a fancy scan tool. But if your transmission is drying, you're not leaking fluid on the ground. That means the transmission is already full and you just have to drain and put the same amount of new Toyota fluid back in
