2008 Toyota Solara SLE convertible 151k
Had a hole in radiator on the metal piece, had got some strong jb weld, and put it on there Have driven a few thousand miles, and hasn't leaked at all
Wondering how long this should last. Hasn't overheated at all or lost any coolant.
Was wanting to sell my car, but wondering if selling it with a patched radiator is a good idea
Don't have the funds to replace it.
You've already beaten the odds, that "patch" is a temporary fix that is not likely to hold up much longer. It's not really feasible to patch modern plastic and aluminum radiators the way you could the old-school brass and copper jobs.
It's not a particularly expensive radiator. Rockauto.com price for a Denso radiator is only about $100, give or take a few dollars depending on engine.
As far as your strategy in selling the car all I can tell you is that as a buyer I would not consider a leaky radiator to be a deal-breaker. However finding out prior to the sale that a seller was hiding the defect with a dubious patch would be cause to run away.
I'm sure somebody more handy than you is willing to put a radiator in a car with only 150k. It doesn't cost that much.
Just explain it in your ad.
