Hi, I own a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. 167,000 and It broke down recently due to a bad alternator, since then i’ve replaced the alternator and when i took my car on a test drive, the steering felt a little bit harder to steer before my car broke down and my radio is not working. I don’t know what to do and how to fix this.
That car has hydraulic power steering with an engine-driven pump, so changing the alternator would not affect it unless a problem with the fan belt (slipping?) was introduced with the new alternator. Are the belt and tensioner in good conditon? (If the car has a manual tensioner is it adjusted tight enough?)
You did not state if you checked the radio fuse. If not, that's the first thing to look at. If it's not the fuse check the radio wiring to see if it's getting power. If not, trace the wiring back to the fault.
