I have a 1999/2000 ford ranger with the 2.5 motor, I have replaced crank sensor , cam sensor , plugs and wires are maybe 2 months old , changed the thermast temperature sensor , when I start the truck it wants to start but doesn't , after a couple of times cranking it I start to smell fuel , (I don't give it gas) . When this first started it would back fire sometimes , only thing I haven't changed is the coil pack for the passenger side.

Did you pressure test the fuel line?

The cam positioning sensor sets the ignition timing and it sounds like it's not adjusted properly. The timing is off.
