Scotty, I recently bought a 1999 Ford Ranger, 3.0L, automatic transmission with 128,000 miles. Should I change the fluid and filter in the transmission?

Pull the dipstick and look at the fluid. If it looks like varnish or is brown, smells burned or really is anything but red, I probably wouldn't touch it. My 1999 Ranger went 249k on the original fluid. I missed checking that when I bought it 2.5 years ago and had mine rebuilt, it shifted funny sometimes.
