We have a 2012 Nissan Altima with 181,000 Miles on it. On cold start ups it makes a odd rattle noise under the car and when you drive for a few minutes the noise goes away. Example: Start the car after sitting for a good bit of time the noise happens, and you drive for a bit and you go to the store for 10-15 or a bit more time and come back start the car there is no noise. Could this be a Fuel problem? Muffler? Catalytic Converter? Or something else? No Check Engine Light is on, but we know that doesn't mean anything. Like I said it only happens on cold start ups. What are your thoughts?
Classic sign of a worn timing chain or tensioner.
{black}:shutmouth: Hold on, there two ways to look at this YOUR WAY AND THE CORRECT WAY what am trying to say is let say the owner manual tell you very 7500 miles service all filters and oil and fluids . .first two years every 6500 miles the CAR was drop off the night be for the service was needed but as we all know my wife and son are trade-in days to drive it .now the car is three years old it have over 39,000 on it Christmas is 6 week from now be for you know it March COME AROUND taxes are due ,since you let your son drive ,your baby girl say daddy can I starting driving you let my brother take mom to work so he can play football .insurance full coverage high as the sky.so you notice mileage because nobody have money for fuel. Had similar and as Chuck suggested here it was the timing gear assembly. Was on first start of the day or when the car had sat.
New timing chain kit needed - $1500 parts and labor.
