Dealership told brother he can’t let their 2019 Civic idle more than 2 mins?? I say it’s hogwash but is there something I’m missing with the newer civics?

When at idle your Honda burn more fuel that going 65 mph so what happens to must fuel will load up are plug up your cat, now today automobile it does not take long for operating temperature to start driving .

@DaddyDAVE can you copy and paste your answer into the ‘Your Answer’ section down below? Thank you.

The dealer is a moron.

True that!

So for example the newer civics have an option that you turn them on from outside with the fob and they run for 5 or 10 minutes each time you use this feature (and you can extend it if you want) so to me it doesn't make sense at all being told they shouldn't idle it for more than 2 minutes when the car itself has that kind of feature.

Lol yea, it’s a load of bull. 👍

Did your brother possibly misunderstand what the dealer told him?  Otherwise, that is nonsense and I would tell the dealer to pound sand.

The dealership needs to explain what they are talking about, and back it up with facts.

Sitting at a red light alone would be 4 or 5 minutes idling time.

Sitting in heavy traffic will create idle times much longer than 2 minutes etc.
