2017 Nissan Frontier, 2.5 liter, 5 speed manual, 58,000 miles. Truck has a low rattling noise when accelerating, from take off to about 3000 RPM. After 3000 hard to hear due to engine noise but while cruising in 4th at about 40mph if I bump the accelerator the rattle can be heard. Let off the pedal and it stops. No check engine light, spark plugs replaced about 2000 miles ago. There is a ticking noise from the catalytic converter once the truck is shut off until it cools down. Cause?

Well the cat's taking his relatively normal but it sounds like it could be valve training rattle from worn timing chain or even gasoline that's too low octane. Any good mechanic can easily check the timing to see if the ignition timing is off and if it is that would have to be fixed. But a really good test is to put in a tank of shell super unleaded gas and if the rattling goes away then you know it's because the ignition timing is too far advanced and that higher octane gasoline will not rattle because it can take it better than low octane gas which will make the engine rattle

Thank you for the reply. I added Shell 91 octane once the tank was at 1/4 and filled it to full and the rattle is still there. I have been trying to listen to where it may be coming from, and it seems to be from underneath the driver side of the truck.
