Rear Differential question

I have a 2008 Ford Explorer Limited 4.6 liter. The rear end cover is leaking and upon further inspection there isn't clear access to the whole cover. This vehicle has independent rear suspension. To replace the rear differential gasket, does the whole differential need to be removed from the vehicle? No way to drop it down. I can't find much on this setup. Everything I searched for has full access to the cover except mine. Thanks!!

have you ever changed the axle fluid? If not you probably should and change the gasket at the same time. If the fluid is still good, you could just try snugging up the cover bolts.

Yeah, it looks like it does. If the leak isn't too bad then you might just ignore it (making sure the fluid level is kept topped up), or try using some AT-205 in it.
