I just purchased a 2000 4Runner 3.4L RWD
i hear a rattle when on drive or reverse coming from the rear end. The noise seems to go away as soon as the car starts moving or when I let go of the brake. The ABS light is on as well. Please tell me it’s not the transmission! The car doesn’t pull when shifting gears and if it weren’t for the noise I’d think everything is ok.

if it's coming from the rear, then it's the axle, driveshaft, or suspension, or brakes.
Have you been lubricating the driveshaft and axle, per the manual?
Please tell me it’s not the transmission!
