Hello,
I going to take my 2004 Subaru Impreza T.S for the airbag safety recall, if my car has some slight modifications that don’t affect the airbag can I still take it in to get it fixed?
What is the mod?
Should, use social skills to be successful.
Call and get appointment and state at their convenience, don't mention mods and show up for appointment. Be nice and you shouldn't have any issue
Yes but don't go in and say that your car is has mods be as on-guard as possible.
The recall is for a safety issue (airbags), so they can't refuse it according to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). If they refuse, you can send a complaint to NHTSA. That's the whole point of a recall, to fix failures that put people at risk (faulty airbags, electrical shorts that can cause fires, seat belts that unbuckle by themselves, etc.).
I think you still can. As long as it does not affect it you are fine
Take car in for fix and say nothing but "hello, I'm here for the recall fix". Then let them be the next to say something.
Some say yes....some say no.......
sampling of one forum (of many) on the subject:
Thr forum was mainly discussing WARRANTY and once about a RECALL. With regards to warranty, yes, aftermarket parts may void warranty on whatever was modified. But you can fight it and have them prove that your modification caused the problem. With regards to recalls, they need to honor it no matter what because it poses a safety risk. It's something that the dealer is responsible for fixing. It's federally required as someone on that forum mentioned too.
That forum was discussing warranty, TSB's and Recalls. But the original Post was for Modded vehicles possible being denied by dealers. It was just a very small portions of the hundreds of likewise posts on the internet. I did not post any opinion other than a yes/no but you did.
