GT86/BRZ looks appeals and will be more relevant than anything from the big 3. Or Europe.

Depends on your budget. If I had a big bydget up to $50K I'd get a new or nearly new a Honda Type R. If you had around 15K to 20K a Honda S2000. 10K nice condition Mazda Miata.
I'm like Scotty though, don't believe spending tens of thousands on cars even though I could. Just bought a 1997 Toyota Celica GT Convertible for a weekend toy, 230,000 miles, runs like a clock, was part of an estate sale so paid just $1200. 🙂
