I have a Kia Soul 2020, I know....I saw your videos later! But 2 times the car on drive the steering wheel go hard I can't move it. The Dashboard turn on a red light with a steering wheel with a exclamation mark. I have a video about it.

Yesterday was the second time with the problem. I turn off the car and the car works like nothing happened when I turn on again. I went to the Kia service 2 times...the first time they said: " don't use the car is a risk" and after 2 weeks they don't find anything and give my car back. Now they said that is the battery, I think the don't have any ideas what's going on.

You can upload the video on YouTube and share the link here. Generally, that light shows there is an issue with power steering system and yours have a EPS, you need to have a high level scan tool to read the codes. Being an electric power steering system, odds are you might end up changing the whole unit which cost a fortune (if it is not covered under warranty).

Believe it or not it could be a bad battery. I had a bad battery to chassis cable loosen up and had that exact same symptom. If you turn sharply with a high resistance the voltage drops and the EPS is starved and can't keep up. It can be a battery, cables and connectors between the EPS and the battery. Have the battery load tested. If the batteries is OK bring it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it. It's under warranty.

Also, have the alternator load tested.
