Replacing Thermostats: OEM or Aftermarket?

Dear Scotty, when replacing a thermostat do you stick to OEM only or in your opinion are reputable aftermarket brands just as good.

If the vehicle makes a difference it's a 9th Gen accord with the 2.4L non-turbo GDI engine.

Thank you.

what's the difference in price?

It depends on the aftermarket brand.

I always use after market, fail safe thermostats.

I put an OEM thermostat in my 02 Mustang last summer. Maybe an aftermarket would have been OK but the thermostat I bought was only $35 at Amazon.

$35 for a thermostat? WOW!  I don't think I've ever paid more than $12 for a thermostat.  Ford must be pretty proud of their stuff.

Cripes - for my car, a "Genuine SAAB" OEM thermostat (the parts company is still in business) currently costs $18.59, made in Germany. What's that about European parts being more expensive?

Only the best for me. 🙂

I don’t like to do the job over again and prefer to get it right the first time, so I stick with OEM (same with water pump).
