Hey there! First time posting here. Hope I can get some input on this!
I recently got this RAV 4 with ~170k on the odometer. And I'm noticing this strange groaning/humming noise when the car is running at ~1500-1700rpm AND ~35-45mph. As far as I can tell these two things must be cooccurring for the sound to start (it doesn't happen when the car is in park or neutral). And it only lasts a second or two and disappears when I accelerate or deaccelerate a bit.
I wondered if it was the serpentine belt, but I think it looks okay. I also wondered if it was the transmission, but my transmission fluid is full and in good condition (that's not to say it's not the transmission, but it at least rules out the fluid).
I'm not sure if I should be worried, or even where to begin looking for the source of the sound. And ideas and input are much appreciated. Thanks!
Your transmission fluid may be full and look good but when was the fluid and filter last changed?
