I have this kind of problem with transmission

I have 2011 Renault fluence with automatic transmission

while driving sometimes transmission suddenly become in safe mood and transmission not shifting at all and when I put it on manual it stuck with D on screen and I have to turn off the car for about 5 minutes and turn it on again and tadaa works again like nothing happened

From while I noticed there is oil leakage from top of vvt solenoid I get it out and cleaned it and I noticed it has no oil seal so I bought one and installed it and after it I drives for long distance with no problem.. So my question is it related to this oil seal or it's problem with transmission itself!??
