Reliable Car under $7000?

I’ve been searching for a new vehicle and I’ve mainly been searching the Japanese brands like Toyota, Honda, and Mazda. I’m looking for a manual car because the reliability but they are few and far between. Mainly though I’ve seen a lot of 2007-2011 Honda Civics with around 130k miles but I’ve heard that they can have transmission issues with the automatics. Also I’ve been looking at Mazda3’s 2007-2011 and I’ve only came across automatics also around 130k-150k. I’m asking though your guys opinions on the 2 car models listed above and if you have any other suggestions on a car make or model that I may be overlooking for 7k or less. Thank you!

Both of those vehicles that you mentioned do have transmission issues. Have you considered driving one of those with a manual transmission?

Yeah I’ve been looking for manual options for those cars but I’ve only seen a couple of them in my area with reasonable mileage.

Are they out of your budget?

Not exactly. It just seems that in my area, a lot of the manual transmission civics for example, are either high mileage (180k-220,000 which speaks to their reliability but is a bit too much ideally) or a bit too old for my liking(1997-2002). Although I have seen a couple vehicles that do look well all around in mileage and age. They are slightly out of my budget (1k+ more than I’m willing to allocate.)

I would not consider older Mazda since you basically buy a Ford.

Consider Camry V6 (2007 model year and newer) or Avalon (the same year range) as well.
