[Solved] Remanufactured by OEM vs Third Party

I have all of the parts to overhaul the brakes in my '79 Catalina in my RockAuto shopping cart, much to my surprise, It's all only $299. That is with everything being OEM AC/DELCO parts. My question is, will remanufactured AC-DELCO calipers be better quality than an aftermarket supplier, such as an auto parts store's options? GM isn't exactly our group's favorite for quality on finished cars, but I figured on a car I'll drive maybe 1500 miles a year, remanned OEM calipers would probably be a pretty good, cheaper option than brand new OEM, while not risking an issue with a cheap knock-off.

I think the remanufactured caliper should be fine, since it is nota high tech thing.

Remember that the reason Rock Auto has AC Delco parts is because AC Delco makes aftermarket parts for other brands. Calipers are pretty simple designs and it doesn't really matter if you go with OEM remanufactured or aftermarket remanufactured.

Often the aftermarket ones are OEM cast cores but with new seals, pistons, etc

I would stick with OEM. On parts like that, as you found out, you're not talking about a lot of money. And I have a tendency to use OEM stuff whenever possible. The guys who refurbish them know the parts best as their company made the originals and has all the technical know how to remanufactured them correctly.
