[Solved] Remanufactured starters & alternators

 Hello everyone!

I noticed that in auto parts stores, there are lots of starters and alternators are remanufactured. Many premium brands remake them as well.
Are those reborn items reliable? Performance is same as new ones?

Thank you!

I’ve been bit enough times buying remanufactured that I only buy new now.   I recommend you just buy new.

Just buy new. It used to be worth going remanufactured, but the prices have fallen so much that it is worth the difference to avoid the headaches.

If you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time, bite the bullet for a new one.

It’s hit or miss in my experience. Sometimes you get lucky and you get one that lasts a few years and sometimes you are constantly using that warranty and swapping it out.

Get a new one.

Remans are OK IF they have a limited lifetime warranty AND you keep the receipt.  Your definitely going to need it if your car has that incredibly stupid auto star/stop feature.

With starters and alternators it can be really hard to find brand new ones and sometimes you have to ger remanufactured.
