I was recently in an auto accident (I'm not at fault) and doing ok.   However, insurance company wants to repair it, I'm worried about long term problems. Just looking for your opionion

2019 Toyota sienna xle, 18k Mile's, head on collision at 35mph, no air bags.  Cost of repairs $18,000 and going up.   Would like to attach repair estimate but not sure how...

Thanks from long time watcher of your channel.

Head on collision at 35mph is serious. I’m surprised they won’t total it. Are you okay?

It all depends who repairs it, … how much effort you put into supervising a repair?

My experience is that even when you hire an external inspector to overlook a repair, … shirt happens down a road: … leaks (oil, coolant, rain water), creaks (chassis), blisters (paint), cracking windshields (misalignment), electrical gremlins (wiring, sensors), hidden unrepairs (unpainted metal, missing fasteners), rust, … stuff that normally would be covered under the warranty that it no longer is.

Anyway, … if you can negotiate a satisfactory to you write off, I would go for that. If not, … fix it under careful scrutiny, and than try to rid off it right after, … at least before the accident shows up on public records. Yes, … you will take a financial beating, but that will be it, and quickly in the past. Quickly out of mind, …

Ages ago, my 7 year old car got into an accident, I got it repaired.  The back right corner where it got hit never ran the same.  I still have it though the rest of the car is running fine. $18,000 worth of damage, sounds like a lot of damage.
