Scotty I’ve been looking for a new repair shop for things I don’t do myself. I found one I heard a lot of good so I took my 07 Pontiac G5 in for cylinder 2 injector replacement I had scanned it myself had code for cylinder 2 circuit fuel injector cut. Told them replace cylinder 2 injector if needed. They did. I picked up car ran mostly normal but check engine light came back on few miles from shop. I put scan tool on and fuel trims off and mass airflow sensor reading to low. I cleaned sensor and went ahead and took off intake to check if throttle body was dirty it was filthy so I cleaned it. I know they saw the throttle body changing the injector cause had to take apart to access injector. In there defense I only told them to change injector if needed and that’s all they charged me for but I feel like they should have at least cleaned a filthy throttle body and checked live scan data before sending me on my way. I would been ok paying for that or they could’ve called and told me it needed done or am I being too picky about this. What would you have done. Thank you
While not a bad idea to do your own preliminary check to make sure you're not being sold a bill of goods when going to a shop, it seems what happened here is they did exactly what you asked them to do - no more and no less - instead of doing their own diagnosis and formulating a repair plan on that basis. A better approach might have been "I believe the problem might be a hinky #2 fuel injector, but take a look and let me know what you think.")
