Can I change my tire size

I have a 2007 Cadillac STS. I wanted to know if I can replace my low profile tires with regular tires? The low profile tires are loud and the ride isn't that smooth. Thanks for your time. Louis

I'm guessing that you have the 18 inch wheels (and people have been known to go as much as 20 inch).  But looks like the STS that year also came with 17 inch wheels as an option.  If you look around, you can probably find a set of the stock 17-inchers pretty cheap; with the proper tire size, that might accomplish your goal while keeping everything reasonably OEM.

(If you consult with your local tire shop, they might get a slightly taller tire to fit your existing wheels, but you'll probably get tire rub before you get  a tall enough tire to make much difference in ride.  I'd get smaller wheels first.)

You didn't mention what size tires are on there now.

You'd want to stay close to the current overall diameter of your tires. Bear in mind tread width (therefore grip on the road) will be reduced and you'll need to keep an eye on load rating. Depending on what you have and what you want you may need a smaller rim size. You can play around with figures in a tire size calculator to get some ideas.

According to that tire size calculator I can only go 215 to 335, 35 to 55 R17. So I would probably have to get different rims as well. Thanks again for the help.

Low profile tire shouldn't be louder than regular tires it maybe a problem with the tires

Are you running Michelin cross climate or something like that
