[Solved] replace front brakes only or rotors and brakes together?

I have a 2009 Toyota Matrix. I admit about 2 years ago I put on cheap front rotors and brakes. I have only put on about 20K miles since then, but for the past 6 months they have been screeching bad. I feel like the performance of the brakes is fine, stops fine and no shaking. It's really just the sound. And since I do kid pickup a lot kinda embarrassing, lol.

I found some Akebono pads for the front at $45. My question is do I need to change the rotors too, or just the pads?

Thank you!

if the rotors aren't damaged you can use them. Make sure you install new shims, clean all the rust off the caliper bracket, and put some antisqueal on the back of the pads.

@imperator thanks! I was hoping to hear this.

@imperator I had an independent mechanic take the "glaze" off of my pads and rotors. He explained it to me and said it would work, and it did! not sure if it is something that needs to be done periodically, he said everything looked fine and there was plenty of life left so no need to replace anything.
