1994 Camry 2.2L LE
327k miles
Stays on the road by keeping the oil changed and adding fluids (steering fluid leak $1k+ to fix, oil, ya know, she's old).
I'm fast off the line and so is my vehicle. I beat everyone to the posted speed limit, even manual transmission vehicles with drivers rocking/revving at the stop light, even motorcycles, even trucks that try to catch up after they eat Camry particles off the line. We won't laugh at the SUVs with their eco-mode enabled.
Things I hate:
While I don't have to drive much at all anymore, being blinded by LED headlights on SUVs/Trucks on the back roads at night both vehicles approaching from the front, and making a "curtain of light" from behind my vehicle. Why I hate this? The local garage accidentally stripped the adjustment screws for my headlights after first putting them out of alignment!
Why I'm finally considering replacing the '94 Camry: mainly because if I get the tires replaced, I'll also need to get the brakes done, then why not get the tune up, fix the steering, etc. The blower motor/resister I replaced myself died right after the three year warranty. I was so disappointed, I didn't replace it again. I must be going around 40MPG for the "heat" to blow into the vehicle. Since I didn't have a blower motor, I tested the vehicle without the resister to see how the Camry runs without A/C. I ended up just leaving the resister disconnected and running without A/C and blower motor ever since. Main issue is condensation/ice on the windows under certain weather conditions.
Reasons to fix this car: many parts were replaced in 2012 when I had all the seals replaced due to leaking transmission, engine still runs smooth, might have an EVAP problem but that's mostly only noticeable on hot summer days. Not fancy - easy to repair. It might be getting harder to get 10W30 and parts.
Wish I could find a garage kept, low mileage twin of my vehicle!
Thank you for helping! All my cars have been hand me downs and I've never purchased a vehicle in my life.
Yes, ideas for a replacement vehicle for someone who loves this model year/vehicle but is facing reality of a car that could have voted in the last 3 presidential elections.
Maybe a newer Camry?
Is there a question in here somewhere?
Ah, good question!
