In 2019 we bought a 2018 RAV-4 with about 8K miles. It had only one key fob, for which I had the dealer deduct $500. My old indie mechanic recommended a guy in Big City who did car keys. That guy fixed me up with a programmed replacement for about $220. Worked fine--and I replaced its battery--until 3 months ago when the RAV-4 started to not "recognize" the fob. While at local trusted mechanic, he said my fob was "corroded," perhaps by sweat etc. What is a cost effective way to get a replacement fob for a 2018 RAV-4? I truly despise these key fobs--my 2001 Camry and 96 Chev truck don't have them--but I am stuck with it.

Go to your local locksmith and see what they offer.
