[Solved] Riveted idle air control valve Pontiac Vibe 2007

Hi i have a 2007 220k Pontiac Vibe/Matrix with rough idle, i would like to clean the idle air control valve but it is riveted to the throttle body, is it ok to bust the rivets ?  Thanks !

So, still searching & learning. So an electronic throttle body is NOT equipped with an air idle control valve ( surprised nobody mentioned) there is only a throttle position sensor and the finger like brushes can fall apart.....

Thanks for reporting back. Good to know.

My pleasure to contribute, i will fix this & keep you posted !

what about the cheap 135$ amazon ones, how bad can they be ?

bad enough to regret buying them

So get a pop rivet gun, drill them out and finish the job.  Or, even better, drill them out, tap the holes and attach the new one with screws.

Ok, thanks Doc !

If that's no good, you can buy a new throttle body with the IAC attached, Autozone, Duralast, #TB1070D, lifetime warranty - about $700.

Really bad. And they don't come with a LIFETIME warranty. If yours ever goes bad, just take it back to Autozone and they'll give you a new one.  I would never buy any important part on Amazon or Ebay, unless maybe a set of lug nuts.

Ok, thanks again

I looked at a close up of the unit and the IAC is held on by plain old pop rivets.

I am overwhelmed by the helping hands, you guy's are amazing !

If your IAC valve is the same as this, which I think it is, then no. Good luck.

Thats the problem !! i did a lot of research ,nobody talks about it
mine has Rivets, it is Not the screw on type,

Well dang. What is holding the black part on? Rivets or screws?

yeah rivets !

Are they possibly "security head" screws and not rivets? This one from 1A Auto has screws...

I might have missed that without my glasses.... Thank you so much for the help !

Does anybody know how to ask a question to Scotty Kilmer ?

See below:
https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/how-to-get-a-question-to-scotty/

.

Scotty picks and chooses the questions he responds to - usually, if no one else has answered a thread yet he will usually answer it. Now, when it comes to his videos on YouTube, he may still pick your question and answer it that way.

.

You can also try to ask Scotty during his weekly live shows on YouTube.

OK' THanks !
