- I have a 2003 Lexus ES300. I Have to hold the key for a long time for the car to start or I can try to start it and then on the second try it will start. Happens when cold mostly or after the car has sat for a half hour or so. New plugs and coils. Supposedly a new fuel pump. What could cause this?

Check air and fuel filters, and fuel pressure. Check that residual pressure is being held in the fuel rail after the engine is shut down. Scan for codes and live data.
