Hi Scotty! I have a manual transmission 2007 Mini Cooper S with 69K miles on it (4 cylinders, 1.6l turbocharged, no mods). My problem is that the idle is not stable, drops RPM, and has a weird sound. I'm assuming the problem is that the timing chain tensioner does not stretch the chain enough and causes the chain to hit something because the sound comes from near the chain. Or the engine won't get enough fuel? I'm not sure. The only thing I changed is the VVT solenoid, but it didn't solve the problem. No check engine light nor codes.
Here is a video so it'll be easier to understand my problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMJnDQlT8i0

Well those little angels that kind of crappy and that thing is probably going to need rebuilding you're not going to know what's wrong till you start taking it apart if you want to go that far. My advice to be ditching and get a more reliable car they have a limited lifespan and yours is nearing the end
