Hello, my car RPM goes up and down when first started. It varies from 700 rpm to 1000 rpm and only do this when I started the car after a few minutes then rpm is back to normal, every thing is fine. This problem only occur when the car is cool down (leaving it off for a few hours). If the car is hot then it's fine. Thank you
But once I run the Van (honda odyssey 2003) for a while (maybe 5 minutes) then the problem goes away. Even when I'm idling.... it seems to be related to temperature.
can you make a video?
Sure, here a video of it. Again, after 5 minutes or so the problem will go away until the next cold start.

OK I see from your video the idle RPM is pretty erratic. I would start by looking for vacuum leaks.
Okay I will research on how to check for vacuum leak, thanks.
Oh snap, I don't smoke lol
I've found a cracked rubber tube, replaced it and now the idle issue is fixed. So the root cause was vacuum leak not the IAC valve nor dirty throttle body. Thank you all for your help! Have a great holiday season.
Thank you, sir.
So I did this cleaning and it didn't help. I took it to a local shop and the gentleman said that I need a new something idler... it controls the idle speed... he also said that only dealer have this part and it's a few hundreds dollars... I forgot the part name... do you know the name of the part?
He was probably talking about the IAC (Idle Air Control valve). I'd also check the plumbing going into the valve since after nearly two decades the rubber has likely deteriorated.
Thanks, I'll check them out
Replaced the IAC Valve and it didn't fix the issue.
Try my video make your car run better with a little spray cleaner carbon build up often does that
There are cars for which this is normal behavior - short-term idle rpm increase after a cold start.
I mean, not fluctuating rpms but steadily increased which soon go back to normal.
Replace the IAC.
Yes I'm waiting for the part... thanks
I replaced this IAC Valve and it did not fix the issue. What else should I check out?
thry the throttle bodies my 97 avalanc is having rough cold starts during winter. and it has been my throttle bodes. I repla e my altanator knowing it is my throttle bodies.
you're not making any sense

You've been here half a year you should know it takes a while to respond sometimes.
And in that time you haven't figured out that spamming the button doesn't make it go any faster?

Your laptop has nothing to do with it. You posted this exact same answer twice, 7 minutes apart. Why? Double-posting is against forum rules and will get you banned. Have you read them?
