Rpm jumping

So my rpm’s sit between 500 and 1000 rpm, the needle goes right below one drops down idles for a few seconds and repeats, I have a 2001 Mustang Gt 4.8L V8 with 140764.7 miles on it. What can cause this problem?

Faulty idle control valve. It mostly likely the culprit

Vacuum leak, spark plugs, wires, coils,maf, iat, . Map sensor, coolant temp sensor clogged fuel filter. There are a lot of possibilities. Look into the idle control valve first.
