Hi Scotty, Congrats on your move to Tennessee! What a wonderful house you have .. I have a question regarding suspension protection.What can I do to prevent rubber boots, bushings from cracking?Is silicon spray the best option or is there any other product available that you recommend? I live in Qatar where temperatures are extremely high up to 125 degrees F. Thank you very much.

AT-205 reseal. It's a rubber rejuvenator and it will help keep rubber like new. Just spray it on whatever rubber parts and your good to go. It also is worth putting some of it in your engine oil because you have rubber seal in there too holding in the oil and they also benefit from the AT-205 and its 100% safe for engines. Definitely get some!

Thanks Jack

np my dude 😀

Will most any brand of trans sealer or rear main sealer work to protect rubber boots/bushings? Thanks

No there are a lot of things out there that claim they can do some miracle thing for your car and there's only a few that pros will use. If you need to use a particular kinds of product on your car feel free to ask a question on the main forum and we'll try and get to it.

It's time to get real guys. AT-205 was never intended as a permanent fix for anything.

AT-205 Re-Seal can reduce or stop seal leakage on a TEMPORARY BASIS ! Similar to using WD-40 on plastic headlamp lenses, right ?

It DOES NOT re-compound the seal.

It does not magically do anything but provide a short-term plug in a seal leak.

In some cases you can get similar results with band-aids and duct tape.

Made by ATP Automotive in Chicago, a firm primarily involved in transmission components, it temporarily replaces plasticizers to assist in sealing, but does not permanently fix any problems.

The is no permanent gratification in a can here and it's irresponsible and possibly criminal to tell people otherwise.

If you want to do a long-term fix of a bad seal or component, replace the defective seal !

And when used at all to reduce polymer degradation in boots and bushings, it's the same temporary plasticizer replacement and does not provide a permanent fix.

The forum is supposed to provide help, not BS answers that don't properly fix the problem !

@oldrangernut
That’s absolutely true, it does make a lot of sense to me. Thanks for your feedback

I believe the OP asked about " prevent rubber boots, bushings from cracking", not FIXING leaks.

@glen_stet
I addressed that in the next-to-last sentence.

Just spray on a preservative like Son of a Gun or Armor All for boots and rubber parts, not for seals.
