1996 ford Econoline 150 5.8L

Thank you may I ask you if you would happen to know what maybe the top 3 reasons I am running lean with low idle. It's a 5.8 liter V8 Econoline 150 just looking for suggestions and where I should probably check first so appreciate your time thank you. I have a baby on the way with a tight income and just want to get the van ready for my baby thank you

Vacuum leaks are a very common cause of running lean. It would help if you provided more details on the vehicle as well as any available codes or data.

Additionally you might search the board and internet for info on code P0171 which pertains to running lean, though you didn't say if you are seeing that particular code. (Even if not there may be applicable information.) Here's a topic that was posted here just earlier today:

That's partly my bad. I split off the question from a different topic. He's driving a 1996 model.

By the way, how can you tell it's running lean?

on a vehicle that old I would suspect failing fuel components (pumps, filters, regulators, etc.)
Start with a pressure test.
