What are your thoughts about the rx8? Looking to get a sports car.
It's a great sports car, but you have to keep in mind it has a rotary. Rotary engines are awesome and personally my favorite engine of all time due to its simplistic design and small size for the amount of power it makes. In terms of build quality, the rotary engines actually can last very long time...BUT (a big catch) you need to have the apex seals replaced every 100k-150k miles if you want it to perform at its best. Apex seals are a crucial component to the rotary engine because they seal off each chamber for the intake, power, and exhaust cycles (which basically happens in one rotation). It's synonymous to valves and piston rings on your typical four stroke engine, only combined into one.
So if your willing to have the engine opened up to replace the apex seals and don't mind a bit of oil burning, then go for it! They are great project cars. I would try and find a manual if you know how to drive stick.
Their rotary engine designs might seem cool but fall apart.
I have a fascination with the rotary engine, so I would consider the RX8. With that said, be forewarned, by their nature, rotary engines aren’t as long lasting as inline or v engines.
