Hi Scotty, I just bought a 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS because I like the car. I was wanting a rear-wheel drive classic Chevrolet V8 simplistic design and reliability. I want to replace the air filter and mufflers. I was looking at Dynomax Race Bullet mufflers (they require custom fitting), Dynomax replacement mufflers made for this model, and Flowmaster 40 made for this model. What is your advice and/or recommendations?
How loud do you want it?
I'd go with the DynoMax as Flowmaster mufflers have a history of, well, not flowing very well.
I'm sorry I meant to reply here, thanks.
No worries. 🙂 You can check their website: https://www.dynomax.com/exhaust-systems/chevrolet-exhaust-systems
95 decibels is the limit when stepping on the gas pedal. I prefer Dynomax Bullet Race mufflers but I know it requires careful mod work and I do not want the stock engine to run poorly after while. Is this a problem for this car? Could you recommend the right Dynomax muffler for this year/make/model?
