scan tool youtube

Has Scotty made youtube videos of the scan tools he is recommending?

I was interested in the Autel MP808 and Launch X431 PROS Mini models that Scotty recommends.

Actually, I found out that the Autel MP808 is a model that is not supported in North America.

Do these Autel and Launch scan tools really work as the companies claim?

Do they make reliable and safe scan tools?

Who are the authorized US-based re-sellers of these tools?

I won’t be able to answer all your questions, but here is what I know:

Autel makes very good scan tools and they work really well for the price - no arguing that.  I can’t speak about Launch (don’t know enough about them), but Autel is used by Scotty and the Car Wizard as well as other mechanics I know.  It does a lot for the money and I consider it one of the best bang for the buck scan tools.  I currently use one and highly recommend Autel.

Of the TABLET style Autel tools, only the following are North American models:  (I got this list recently via email from Autel North America and I only asked them about tablets):

-MX808
-MX808TS
-TS608
-MS906BT
-MS906TS
-MS908 (includes the P, S, and S Pro)
-Elite
-MS909
-MS919
-Ultra
-IM508
-IM608

They also said anything that is MP or MK is not a US tool.  In addition any of the above tablets sold by an UNauthorized dealer will NOT receive technical support/repair/warranty by Autel US.  So if a battery fails and needs replacing you are on your own and/or you have to send the unit overseas - which will be a hassle.  Also you risk getting a faulty unit from an unauthorized dealer - it might work a few months but then fail and then you are stuck after having spent hard earned money on a nice scan tool.  I’ve heard those stories.  BTW, Amazon is NOT an authorized Autel dealer.

For the list of authorized dealers see here:

If you want to see if your vehicle(s) is covered go here:  (select the tool you are interested in)

I’ve bought my Autel scan tool (MX808) from authorized dealer http://www.aeswave.com - they are quick to respond to questions and happy with their service, so I recommend you go with aeswave.com

Thank you DayWalker, very informative.

Maybe we can get Launch scanner reviews from others?
