I have 174k miles on my auto Scion Xb 2006. When I get up to 20 mph my right front side of the car humms/whines when i press on the gas. It doesnt get louder with higher speed and goes away when i let off the gas. Belts are new and suspension is strong, what could it be?

Does the noise get louder or quieter while turning? Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing
Theres no sound change in sound when turning and steering And wheel doesnt shake. CV boots are all dry.
I had a similar situation on my 2005 xB and it did go away after I changed the wheel bearing.
Might be the right-side CV axle.
Look at it, and see if either of the 2 boots are torn.
If so, then replace the axle. If money is an issue, try to find an independent shop that is willing to install an aftermarket axle.

CV boots are dry and not torn plus sound goes away when i let off gas even at highway speeds
I had the same thing happen on my 2005 xB and the noise did go away after I changed the wheel bearing. Because the car is so short, it is hard to tell which side it is coming from so I changed the rear wheel bearing first but it didn't go away until I changed the front one.
@greazyjoe
That’s what I’m thinking since i heard it do the humming even when i stepped off the gas and coasted, first time it happened. I’ll have my mechanic take a look at it and see what he says. Thanks for all the help guys 👍

Just an update, i had both front wheel bearings replaced and the sound still happens when i am going above 20mph but stops when i let off the gas. If i slightly press the gas again the sound comes back. What could it be?
