Thank You for taking my Question , 06 scion XB auto trans. The Problem. Whining sound .Bought this car 1 year ago with 154.000 miles .Ran ok Have had some work done to it ,Belts changed ,replaced coolant, new plugs ,new PCV valve, had a injector rail cleaning, air filter, battery, new left front wheel barring, 2 CV joints replaced ,oil changed, and took out 2 quarts of AT Fluid in which was clean , car was running good , Then last week I had 3 motor mounts replaced .ran good The Mechanic says motor may shake a bit until the new motor mounts break in .I have never heard of anything like that before .However Motor shakes more then before the mounts went in.Also alt belt was loose and they tightened it up. then 2 days later I get this WHINING sound going down the road .Car does not make this sound when in Park .And also does not shake in Park. No Clank sound when put in gear ,motor does not lift when its put in gear .I am wanting to get it up to speed and put it in Neutral and see if it goes away. To me this would rule out toque converter .And also to rule out planetary gear. Then to me could it be the other wheel bearing going bad? No check engine light is on.Picked up a blue driver as recommended by Scotty .Any ideas on where to look next? I like this xb it has the classic look . Thanks Guys for your help> Margie
First of all, the motor mounts do not need time to start working fine.
You should pinpoint the noise. Does it come from the wheels or under the hood?
I will find out more this weekend ...Thank you so much.I will be in touch ---xbmama
