Scotty in your video you said that the engines built in Kentucky burn oil? I'm buying a used 08 xb with 102 thousand miles I decoded the vin number and the car and engine are all from Japan and assembled there. I ask you does this mean I'm not going to have a oil consumption issue ?

that is not necessarily the case I recently worked on a 2008 with that engine was burning oil like crazy I think it was pretty much a design flaw on all those two way z f e engines

Thanks, I'm going to get anyway if it burns oil besides changing it every 3 thousand miles and replacing the PCV valve what kind of oil would you recommend?

He doesn't reply to comments so why don't you make this another question so more people can answer.

The 2az-fe engines burn oil like mad and 2008 is the worst oil burning year for the XB.

Here are the owner complaints: https://www.carcomplaints.com/Scion/xB/2008/

On average 85k miles

My friends got an 06 2az-fe and it uses excessive oil at just 60k miles

What you said about being made in Japan etc. applies to the Camry which used the engine from 2002 but started seeing the issue when production moved to US in 2007. The vehicles affected range from 2006-2013, and that includes the Scion XB.

Good luck
