You're going to need a lot more components other than the turbo, intercooler, and computer.

You need to change your whole exhaust system so that it lines up correctly with the exhaust side of the turbo. You need the extra MAP sensors, bypass valve, and wastegate that go with the new ECU, not to mention the wiring harnesses that connect to those components. You need extra piping to go from the turbo outlet to the intercooler and to the throttle body. And you need extra oil and coolant lines for the turbo itself. You may need to upgrade the fuel pumps as well. And there may be more things to take care of that I may have missed (engine specific).

If you manage to do all this, then I will applaud you. You will have a turbocharged car. Realize though that you will not pass smog tests (at least in the strict states if you live in the US) because you significantly changed your engine, and you run the risk of damaging your engine.

No.

Just. No.

No turbo conversion that has run successfully and as intended for any real length of time has been done for $1000.

Hyundai motors do not like boost, even when they are built with a turbo from the factory. Forget all about that idea.

You can turbo anything. It doesn't mean you should.

Hyundai motors explode easily enough WITHOUT turbochargers 😆

Donut Media has a money pit show where they turbo a miata from the 90s. They go semi in depth about turning and what you should do.id recommend watching that before investing.

Like Joe said, though. Hyundai motors aren't exactly the best. If it didn't come with a turbo, the stock internals might not be sturdy enough to withstand the extra stress the turbo would add.

Not saying you couldn't, but you might blow up your motor in the process.

Your car, though. So, your call.

That was the best thing they did on that show! I love Donut Media.

I absolutely love that show, even though modding a car to that extent is way more involved than what they can show while staying entertaining.

Hyundai engines are known for being weak as it is. The last thing you want to do is turbocharge it.

Don't forget that you'll probably have to change out the pistons to lower the compression ratio so the turbo functions properly.  You mentioned $1000, I hope you have a suitcase full of money somewhere, not only to do the work you describe but to buy a new engine when the one your are working on turns into the world's most expensive boat anchor after it blows up.

Got It, I won't do it, I knew the exhaust was different but thought the engines were very similar

in the veloster 1.6 GDI to the Turbo 1.6GDI, Just want to make the thing a little bit faster.

Someone mentioned bolt ons before, but don't know whats available,  I have Cold air intake, Oil Catch "irrelavant to performance" can and stage 3 chip from thorton that does help, alot. looking for ideas

a less restrictive exhaust can add a handful of horsepower, ive heard of people getting high flow catalytic converters and doing resonator deletes. according to a forum post a user with a similar model got a boost of 5-10hp from each of those two mods. those are both pretty easy mods to do if you have ever done exhaust work before, you should only need a couple of wrenches and a pair of jack stands.

you also mentioned you already had a performance chip so maybe look into what some popular mod pairings are and see what you are comfortable doing.
