2011 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD 3.7L Automatic Trans 102,000 miles
Need help with intermittent problems
1st issue: Turn key to start engine does not crank dash lights are on and can hear fuel pump build pressure, battery is good. Try a time or two again and it starts.
2nd issue: Start engine the idle goes to 4,000 rpm steady and does not want to return to normal until trans put into gear.
3rd issue: Start engine has high idle and when the accelerator pedal is pressed up and down there is no change in RPM it is like it was not pressed. When I did this the car was in park. It only did this 3rd issue once.
No engine light and has no CODES

1st issue: possible starter issue. Start with the basics, make sure you have tight and clean battery terminals. Double check ground cable where it connects to the body make sure it's not corroded or loose. Next check your solenoid connectors those have a tendency to get corrosion and become loose. If all is ok mostly likely your starter is failing. You will need a Digital multimeter to diagnose further.
2nd and 3rd issue: Any check engine light on? Is not, still scan the vehicle there might be pending codes not set yet. If no codes found check for vacuum leaks around intake manifold. Then check your throttle body, make sure your connection to the throttle body is good. Maybe cleaning the throttle body if it has a high point of carbon build up might help.
sounds like a fault in the accelerator pedal position circuit
