Im 16 and am getting my permit, and i want a truck as my first car. I've looked at small truck (rangers, S-10, Sonomas) but need help finding one that will be the most reliable

Consider Nissan Frontier if you are on budget.
If you're able to swing it...go for a Tacoma...Taco's might be a bit more up front, but will benefit in the long-run with reliability over the others.

Tacoma obviously is the most reliable but its hard to find a good one for 5-10 grand, Nissan Frontier would be your best choice. Avoid the years with major problems, see here.
A Tacoma or a Frontier would be the best bet.
Although those trucks you mentioned are decent, they won’t last as long as a Toyota Tacoma as that truck is bulletproof. However, the Taco will cost a premium to purchase due to that reliability. Another truck that’s also a good one is a Nissan Frontier. Try to find the best deal on those trucks, have an independent and trusty mechanic check it out, and you’re good to go.
Also, look out for rust. If you see rust, skip it and find a non rusty truck.
