First of all I wanna say, yes I know they are relatively poorly made cars and yes I know they are Chrysler products. Having said that, there is no substitution for how they look and sound. I intend to get one eventually. I'll get it as low mileage used as possible and maintain it religiously. I've heard the 8 speed ZF transmissions in the model years 2014 and later are much more reliable than the earlier Mercedes 5 speeds, but I've also heard the earlier model years are better made overall because they were still made when Daimler-Chrysler existed. Anyone have any experience owning them and have any input on what models are the best? I don't care about how difficult parts are to fix, I have plenty of time and energy.
Thank you!!
Best year for Chargers and Challengers? 1970. They were gorgeous then, and now are collectors items - what are the odds that somebody will be restoring current Dodges in 2071?
I would have said 1967, but 1970 would do as well. 🙂
🙄 😆 Alright you got me there, I would prefer one made from 2006 or newer though... 😛
To actually provide some useful info, here's where you can research problem areas, recalls and TSBs quickly:

There are definitely some years you should avoid.
Thank you!
Best year 1972
Naah - 72, you couldn't get a big block or a convertible. Best model the 70 T/A w/340 six pack . But they all had terrible, numb steering and weak brakes by modern standards https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Challenger
My 2014 Challenger R/T was great fun and I loved it. Until the lifters went at 35k miles. They have cylinder deactivation, so that is definitely an issue.
I would probably go and have someone get rid of that, the dumbest design ever. Also i would use a better oil to make the lifters last longer
