My neighbour's 1993 Golf has been sitting since fall of 2019. The water pump broke, the car leaked coolant all over the place and tended to overheat regularly.
Now he's thinking of "getting it back on the road".
Is it really worth it?
If he decided to scrap it; I believe the local junkyard wouldn't give him peanuts for it.
Scrap or restore?
Thanks.

Scrap or restore?
Why not? performing a head gasket test and replace the water pump that's not even a "restoration", on a modern VW that's a regular issue at 1/4 of that millage.

If the engine is shot, you can put another one in. Folks here do it with Golfs 2.
