So my grandparents want to buy an suv from around the 5-8k range as well as put 2k into it when they first get it for maintenance (like replacing rubber hoses, breaks, just general upkeep) when they buy it. They want to go on road trips generally ranging from 2-5 hours, but are worried about breaking down. Do you think there are any suvs in this price range they can buy that can be reliable for this need? Some ideas were like a 1st gen toyota sequoia or a 4th gen ford explorer with the v8 engine.

Hi there those could be okay the V8 Fords actually are decent would be a lot cheaper to fix
