Sentra A/C problem

Hi Scotty.  I have a 2002 NissanSentra GXE with 97,000 miles.  When I have the A/C on and driving it works fine.  When I come to an idle at a stop light or drive thru window, the 2 radiator fans turn off and the A/C starts blowing hot air.  After a few minutes the fans start working and the A/C starts blowing cold air again.  Any idea of what is causing this?

Test the battery and alternator and pray one of those are bad and that it's not a failure in the AC electronics or compressor starting to go out

You could always bypass the computer controlling the fans and put in a manual toggle switch to power them directly. You'd want to use a relay with sufficient current capacity since those fans pull a lot of power as well as an inline fuse of course. (Relay should be at least the same amperage rating as the fuse in the original fan circuit.) Or you could just wire the fans to run whenever the ignition is turned on. Here's some wiring ideas:
