Scotty,

About a month ago my car started shaking for a few seconds when cold starting it. It does the normal revup to 2400 RPM and as it back down will start shaking from 1500 to 1000 then it stops. One day it tripped a p0303 code for a misfire in cylinder 3. I replaced all sparkplugs and coils and did a general tune up. No difference. What do you think?

A friend of mine thinks it is being caused by the E15 that gas stations started selling about the same time it started and it is the computer adjusting the timing to compensate. Did roughly the same thing one time when my dad filled up the car with regular 87 instead of 93 octane.

Thanks

Simon

When was your last valve adjustment, fuel filter replacement?

Had the valves adjusted at 100k. About a year ago. Just had them readjusted today. They were a little out of spec, especially cylinder 3. The PCV valve was also gunked up. Also Autozone gave me the wrong spark plugs and I didn't notice when I swapped them. (I put in Iridium plugs not NGK.) The shop I took it to noticed it almost immediately. They did a valve adjustment, swapped the plugs and cleaned out the PCV valve because it is back ordered. (I ordered a new PCV valve and will swapped it out when it arrives.)

Correct spark plugs and basic maintenance and my SI is running like a Honda again. 140k miles and it's running like the day I drove it off the lot.
