Hey scotty whats your opinion on shifting without double clutching? I work for a municipality in N.Y. and we have a few tractor trailers for large trash pickup and such. They are straight H 10 speed allison transmissions some guys power shift threw the gears while i double clutch threw the gears. We got into a discussion the other day they swear up and down im puting more wear and tear on the clutch. I know how to power shift i prefer not to. Does it damage anything power shifting threw the gears without clutching?

If you know how to shift, it does not damage the gears.

If you're shifting without grinding gears or jerking the truck you should be fine. If it's a synchronized transmission, no need to double clutch unless the synchro's are shot (from powershifting?). But isn't a 10 speed Allison an automatic transmission?
