Hello scotty. I am a long time fan and watcher of your show. I really enjoy your style and the information you present, especially some of the more in depth videos that shed light on the industry practice or the functionality of a vehicle.
I am pondering something and I can't find a straight answer. Essentially, I want to know if there is a way to provide shore power to a hybrid vehicle in such a way that you can run the air condition with the vehicle's engine off and without draining the vehicle's batteries (in this case, it would be both the starter battery and the hybrid battery). I understand that a hybrid vehicle's ac compressor is powered by the hybrid battery through AC current. So it got me thinking, would it be possible for me to connect the ac out end of an inverter charger to a hybrid vehicle's ac distribution source and basically power that ac with shore power. If so, then it should also be possible to power that ac compressor with a battery bank connected to the inverter charger? I would love to hear your though on this. Much appreciated!
only plug-in hybrid evs (PHEV) I think they call them
Anyway you don't mention a make or model. That's a question best asked right at the source.
Anything is possible with a little know how and creativity. Right out the box, I don’t think it is easy to do as you are seeking with a hybrid vehicle.
