What are the pros and cons of adding a tubrocharger to my dads 2015 honda accord 2.4 I4 engine. It has 54k miles on it. Will the turbo make the car unreliable and how much power would it really add to the 184 hp engine?
Please don’t double post.
So I'll try to keep this short because this is a question that comes up a lot.
That car is not designed to have a turbo. You would have to make room for all the plumbing, the turbo itself, rebuild the motor to handle boost, get a new trans to handle the power, have it tuned, you'd be running premium fuel only for sure....reliability goes out the window when you modify a car. When you go from N/A to forced induction, you REALLY sacrifice reliability for power. Turbo cars make fun toys, but not daily drivers. As for how much power you'd make, depends on the turbo and boost levels, how much you build the motor, etc.
184HP is perfectly adequate for an Accord. They are not built to be race cars, and if you try turning it into one, you'll ruin the reliability and basically create your own money pit.
Sure, get one of these -

Since when is 184bhp inadequate for an Accord?
It’s your dad’s car. Leave it alone.
@mod_man is probably gonna get tired, having to repeat himself..
You aren't wrong. Lol.
those are cool little turbos. I think im gonna pick one up
